Farewell to Alliance Clinical Director - Allister Grant
Posted on May 01, 2019
In Allister's own words:
In January 2014 I was approached by the Medical Director of UHL and asked whether I would consider being the Clinical Director for a new venture described as a partnership organisation made up of three providers and the three commissioning bodies in Leicestershire. This partnership was set up to manage and develop the elective care services in the community in Leicestershire and the venture came into existence in April 2014 as the LLR NHS Alliance.
I have had the pleasure of being the Clinical Director of this organisation over the last five and a half years. Looking back on this time, we have had difficult times, not least because of the challenging financial climate and the many organisational and structural changes in the NHS but we have also had many successes of which I am exceedingly proud. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with many amazing people across varied organisations, all of whom had a vision to improve the quality of care that we can provide for the benefit of our community.
I have been a Hospital Consultant, Head of Gastroenterology and more recently a Clinical Director in Leicestershire over the last 15 years and was recently appointed as the Medical Director of the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust. I will therefore sadly be leaving University Hospitals of Leicester and the LLR NHS Alliance in October to take up this role in the south west. I sincerely hope that the LLR Alliance and all my colleagues continue to develop services and demonstrate how cross-boundary working and integration of services is the way forward for the NHS in Leicestershire.
Helen Mather says: “We would like to thank Dr Grant for all his hard work as Clinical Director. He has been a valuable member of our leadership team leading on a range of projects that has helped us improve our services. We wish him well and good luck with his new role as Medical Director in Cornwall. We will miss him.”
