Patient representatives raise the profile of the Alliance
Posted on October 21, 2016
The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Alliance Patient and Public Partnership Group (PPPG) joined forces with Alliance staff in September to promote Alliance services and projects.
The teams met with patients and the public at all of our partners’ Annual General Meetings, including: University Hospital of Leicester, Leicestershire Partnership Trust, West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group and East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group.
An LLR Alliance team also showcased our work at the nationwide NHS Innovation Expo in Manchester. Each of these events offered opportunities to speak to members of the public, health professionals and commercial organisations.
Rutland locality PPPG representative, Suzie Henson-Amphlett, was part of the team. “It was a pleasure and an honour to support Team LLR Alliance at the NHS Innovation Expo.
“I was proud to speak up about the innovative way LLR Alliance is improving patient care, whilst moving many services out of acute hospitals and back into the LLR community, and importantly, how as an organisation, LLR Alliance values and includes ‘us’ the patient.
“I appreciated the opportunity to attend the workshops; they gave us a chance to network with, listen to and learn from other organisations and patient representatives.
“The Alliance values us as ‘partners’. Sadly, many organisations still use patient involvement as a tick box exercise, but our patient voice matters. I felt privileged to share both the Alliance’s achievements and examples of best practice during and after the many patient-engagement workshops I attended.
“Thank you again to Alliance staff for making me feel valued, included, and part of the team.”
