Alliance plans inaugural research to improve patient care
Posted on October 28, 2016
LLR Alliance is planning to undertake research to determine the best form of anaesthesia for patients undergoing cataract surgery.
The research will involve a cross-over whereby patients will swap to other types of anaesthetic to allow them to compare their experiences of different techniques. 150
patients will take part in the study.
Consultant Ophthalmologist, Amar Alwitry, said: “The research is part of our continuing aim to deliver better care. We know that cataract surgery makes a massive difference to our patients’ quality of life.
“As well as potentially delivering cost-improvements we hope this will assist us
in our ongoing mission to improve the patient pathway and patient experience.”
150 patients will be involved in the study.
Cataract surgery is the most commonly carried out surgical procedure in the Alliance.
